Croatia has become one of the most popular European sailing vacation destinations and it’s easy to see why with its sheer diversity that suits all types of travelers.

Located in the Adriatic Sea, Croatia’s stunning sailing grounds boast startling blue-green waters, rugged cliffs, attractive fishing towns steeped in history, trendy restaurants and dynamic nightlife.

With over 1200 islands to explore, Croatia is an ideal sailing vacation destination. Find out what you can see in Croatia with our guide to this bucket list destination.

If you want to sail Croatia, you can do it in the following ways:

1. Sail Croatia yourself if you’ve got the right qualification
You may have heard that a Croatia sailing vacation requires an International Certificate of Competence (ICC).

To sail Croatia on a bareboat yacht charter, you do need the right proof of competence to satisfy the authorities and take your original copies with you. Talk to our sales team, who will advise you based on the experience and licenses you have.

If you know how to sail and have chartered before, it is possible that your existing experience can help you qualify for the NauticEd Sailing License and Credentials (SLC). This license by NauticEd, who we work with, is accepted as proof of sailing competency by all Mediterranean countries where we have Dream Yacht Charter bases.

Choose your perfect Croatia bareboat yacht charter from our fleet.

2. Get a skipper to sail around Croatia’s islands
If you are not a sailor or you do not have the required sailing license to sail Croatia yourself, you can charter a boat and hire a licensed skipper to sail the boat.

With our skippered charters, you can sail Croatia without the worry and all the fun. No license or even sailing experience required.

Discover how skippered charters work.

3. Upskill and get your ICC license
If you do not have the qualifications needed to sail Croatia or enough experience to get an SLC, we recommend that you take a NauticEd course.

NauticEd’s sailing courses can help you qualify for an ICC.
